I stopped by this place while I was working downtown and had some time between jobs. I was looking for a quick bite, but I didn't want to buy a whole pizza just for myself. I specifically wanted a place where I could grab a slice, and after looking at a few options on Google Maps, I decided to give this one a try. The selection wasn't huge, but they had some unique and creative pizza flavors that you don't see everywhere. I chose the mushroom slice. At first, I planned to order two slices, but decided to start with one—and I'm glad I did! The slice was huge, loaded with toppings, and so filling that I couldn't even think about eating a second one. I paid around $10 for one slice and a small soda. It may seem a little expensive for a single slice, but considering the size and how satisfying it was, I think it was worth it. I can't say it's the best pizza I've ever had, but it was definitely very good, and I'd happily come back to try some of their other flavors. I also want to mention the young man working there. Pieces is a hidden gem among all the restaurants in Sac! Nothing fancy besides heartfelt service and a delicious pie every time. The owner Tony chatted it up and even served complimentary warm brownies to everyone in the restaurant that evening. We got 2 slices including pepperoni pesto and 2 slices to-go because it was that good. See you again soon Pieces!

OK, I was pretty upset that it’s CASH ONLY but after grabbing some cash from the ATM across the street and buying a slice and a soda, gotta say the pizza is really good. The crust is the best part. But for my taste, the pizza is a little too heavy on the cheese, and too light on pizza sauce. But that’s me, I likemy pizza with a good amount of sauce. That’s my biggest critique about the pizza, they should add more sauce.

Best pesto pizza I have ever had! One massive slice is plenty. Have been there twice with two different friends and it’s unanimous = BEST PIZZA IN SAC! Met the owner Jackie who has been throwing pies there for 33 years-ask her for a few feta crumbles to try with the pesto. Don't go expecting fancy decor though....CASH ONLY

EDIT: Decent pizza, nice counter lady. I should have said crispy so it would stay hot longer. I like the fold-over crust with sauce inside. $9.50/piece is a little high for my budget, but we made it happen. Hot take: I like this pesto slice better than Marilyn's (Pieces pesto tastes fresh), but it is $2.50 more per slice. PRIOR: Wanted a slice today at 3 pm. I walked over but the restaurant was closed and the door locked. I knocked and no answer. Inside the lights were on, but the windows are all covered. Is it closed for good? The hours said it should be open.
